Phone and mobile app FAQ

SOPCompass works in any phone browser and can be installed to the home screen like an app. There is no App Store download and it needs a connection.

Updated

SOPCompass is built to be used one-handed on a phone by people doing the work. There is nothing to download from an app store: open app.sopcompass.com in the phone’s browser and, if you like, add it to your home screen.

Note: For a job site or back room, print a QR code for the SOP. Scanning it opens the SOP on the phone without anyone signing in.

Common questions

Does SOPCompass work on phones?

Yes. The whole app runs in the browser on phones and tablets. Field staff can read SOPs, tick through steps, complete assignments, take quizzes and sign policies from a phone.

Is there an app in the App Store or Google Play?

No. Instead, you can install SOPCompass from the browser to your home screen, where it opens full screen like any other app. There is nothing to download from a store.

How do I install it on an iPhone or iPad?

Open app.sopcompass.com in Safari, tap the Share button, then tap Add to Home Screen. The app shows this hint once on the main screens.

How do I install it on Android?

Open app.sopcompass.com in Chrome. When SOPCompass offers Install the app, tap it, or use the browser menu and choose Install app or Add to Home screen.

Can I install it on a computer?

Yes, in Chrome and Edge. Use the install icon in the address bar or the browser menu. It works the same as the browser tab.

Does it work offline?

No. SOPCompass needs a connection to load SOPs. Without one, the installed app shows a page asking you to check your connection and try again. The app's own code is cached so it opens quickly, but your SOPs and account data are never stored for offline use.

Will my screen lock while I'm following an SOP?

Where the phone's browser supports it, SOPCompass keeps the screen awake while an SOP is open, so it doesn't lock mid-task. It releases this as soon as you leave the page.

Are my checklist ticks saved if the phone locks?

Yes. Ticks and steps you mark as done are kept on that device, so they survive a screen lock or reload. They are personal to you and your device and are not shared with the team.

How do updates reach the installed app?

Automatically. Pages always load the latest version, and if the app was already open when an update came out, a small message offers a reload.

Why did an emailed sign-in link open in my browser instead of the app?

Phones open email links in the browser, which keeps its own sign-in separate from the installed app. Finish in the browser, then come back to the app and sign in with Google or your password.

Does the app send push notifications?

No. Assignments and @mentions arrive by email.
