Email notifications
SOPCompass sends invitations, sign-in and reset links, assignment emails and @mention emails. It doesn't send reminders or digests yet.
SOPCompass sends a small set of emails, each triggered by something a person did. This page lists all of them.
Account emails

Sign-in links only go to addresses that have been invited. Requesting one for any other address sends nothing, and the page shows the same message either way, so it can’t be used to discover who has an account.

These come from notifications@sopcompass.com.
Assignment
- Subject: Please read: SOP title
- Sent when: someone assigns an SOP in the app, and when an admin asks people to re-sign an updated policy.
- Contains: the SOP’s name, the due date if there is one, the note from the person who assigned it, and an Open the SOP button.
- Not sent for assignments created through the API.
- Each assignment is emailed once, even if the request is retried.
@mention
- Subject: Name mentioned you in SOP title
- Sent when: someone tags you with @ in a comment.
- Contains: the comment and a link straight to it in the SOP.
- Rules that keep it quiet: you are only emailed if you can read that SOP; at most one email per person per comment, ever; a person can trigger at most 30 mention emails an hour; and you receive at most 20 mention emails a day. Mentioning yourself sends nothing.
Emails SOPCompass doesn’t send
So you can plan around them, these don’t exist yet:
- due date reminders or overdue nudges;
- daily or weekly digests;
- an email when a new SOP is published or an SOP changes;
- emails for comments that don’t @mention you;
- quiz results or sign-off confirmations;
- Slack, Teams or push notifications for any of the above.

Note: Emailed links open in your default browser. If you use the installed phone app, finish in the browser, then return to the app and sign in with Google or your password.
Common questions
Can people turn off assignment or mention emails?
Not yet. There are no per-person email settings. Assignment and mention emails only go out when someone assigns or mentions that person, so volume stays low.
Are overdue reminders sent?
No. The assignment email is sent once. Overdue assignments are marked in the app, but no reminder or nudge emails are sent.
Do assignments made through the API send an email?
No. Only assignments made in the app send the assignment email. If you assign through the API, send your own notification.
Emails aren't arriving. What should I check?
Check spam and quarantine folders, and ask your IT team to allow mail from sopcompass.com, including notifications@sopcompass.com. Sign-in and invitation links can take a few minutes. If an invitation still hasn't arrived, an admin can resend it from People.
Who sends billing emails?
Payments are handled by Whop, so payment receipts and card notices come from Whop rather than SOPCompass.
