Embed an SOP in Google Sites

Use Insert, then Embed, and paste the embed code or link. Google Sites gives the embed a fixed box, so drag it to the height you want.

Google Sites is a common quick intranet. SOPCompass SOPs embed in it with the built-in Embed option. For how embeds work in general, see Embedding SOPs in other tools.

Steps

  1. In SOPCompass, open the SOP, press Share, create a link labelled Google Sites: <page name> and press Copy embed code.
  2. In Google Sites, open the page and choose Insert › Embed.
  3. Choose the Embed code tab, paste the code and press Next, then Insert.
  4. Drag the edges of the embed box to the width and height you want, then publish the site.

You can also use the By URL tab with the address from Copy embed link. If Google Sites offers a choice, pick Whole page.

Sizing

Google Sites puts every embed in a box of fixed size that you set by dragging. The SOP can’t grow that box, so a long SOP scrolls inside it. Make the box tall enough to show the first few steps; readers can use Open in SOPCompass at the top of the embed to read it full screen.

Who can read it

Anyone who can view the Google Site can read the embedded SOP. If the site is published only to people in your organization, that is who sees it; if it is public, anyone can. SOPCompass doesn’t check the viewer’s Google account, because the share link is what grants access.

Keeping it current and removing it

The embed shows the current SOP each time the page loads. To take it down, delete the embed in Google Sites, publish, and revoke the share link in SOPCompass.
