Embed an SOP in a website or intranet

Copy the embed code from the Share window and paste it into an HTML block. The SOP sizes itself to fit where scripts are allowed.

Use this when you control a web page and can paste HTML into it: a company site, a customer portal, a staff intranet. For how embeds work in general, read Embedding SOPs in other tools first.

Before you start

  1. Open the SOP in SOPCompass and press Share.
  2. Create a share link labelled after the page, for example Intranet: onboarding page.
  3. Press Copy embed code. You now have an <iframe> and a short <script> on your clipboard.

Important: Anyone who can see the page can read the SOP. For a staff-only SOP, put it on a page that is already behind your intranet’s sign-in.

Plain HTML

Paste the whole code where the SOP should appear. The iframe takes the full width of its container and the script grows it to the SOP’s height, so there is no inner scroll bar. Keep both lines together.

WordPress

  1. Edit the page and add a Custom HTML block.
  2. Paste the embed code and update the page.

Some WordPress setups remove <script> tags for users who aren’t administrators. If that happens, the SOP still shows at 640 pixels tall and scrolls inside its frame. Change height="640" in the code if you want it taller.

Squarespace

  1. Edit the page and add a Code block.
  2. Paste the embed code, make sure the block is set to HTML, and save.

Webflow

  1. Drag an Embed element onto the page.
  2. Paste the embed code and save. The embed shows on the published site; the Designer may not preview it.

SharePoint and other intranets

In SharePoint modern pages, use the Embed web part and paste the code. SharePoint only allows iframes from sites an administrator has allowed, so your SharePoint admin may need to add app.sopcompass.com to the list of allowed domains (in the site’s HTML field security settings). Scripts are removed there, so the SOP keeps its fixed height and scrolls inside the frame.

Other intranet tools usually have an HTML, embed or iframe block. If yours only accepts a URL, use Copy embed link instead of the code.

Several SOPs on one page

Paste one embed code per SOP. Each iframe resizes itself independently. Adding the script more than once is harmless.

If the embed shows “This SOP isn’t available”

The share link behind it was revoked or has expired. Create a new link, copy its embed code and replace the old code on the page.

Taking it down

Remove the code from the page, and revoke the share link in SOPCompass so the SOP can’t be opened from copies of the page elsewhere.
