Invite your team

Owners and admins invite people from the People page. Each person gets an emailed link that signs them in and adds them to the workspace.

Owners and admins invite people by email. Each person gets a link that signs them in and drops them straight into your workspace.

Invite someone

  1. Click People in the top menu.
  2. Click Invite (at the top of the People tab).
  3. Enter their Email.
  4. Choose a Role:
    • Viewer: read and complete assignments.
    • Editor: also write and assign SOPs.
    • Admin: also manage people and sharing.
    • Owner: full control of the workspace.
  5. Click Send invite.

They appear on the People page as “Hasn’t joined yet” until they accept. See Roles and permissions for what each role can do.

Important: Only an owner can give someone the owner role. A workspace always keeps at least one owner.

What the invited person sees

They get an email with a link. Clicking it confirms their address, signs them in and asks for their name and a password (they can skip the password and sign in later with Google or an emailed link). See Signing in.

If they already have a SOPCompass account from another workspace, the new workspace simply appears in their workspace switcher.

Set their departments

Departments decide what each person’s Boards page opens on.

  1. On the People page, find the person.
  2. Toggle the departments they work in: HR & People, Operations, Finance, Sales, Marketing.

Invite by assigning

Owners and admins can also invite someone while assigning them an SOP. In the Assign window, type an email under Or add someone by email and click Add. They get an invitation, and the SOP is waiting as an assignment when they join. See Assignments and due dates.

Resend or revoke an invitation

Invitation links expire. For an invited address on the People page, open the ⋯ menu and choose:

  • Resend invite to email a fresh link.
  • Revoke invite to cancel it.

Plan limits

Owners, admins and editors count as editors on your plan (Team: up to 10, Business: up to 30, counted across every workspace on the subscription). If an invitation would go over the limit, SOPCompass says so and the invite is not created. Viewers never count. See Plans and billing.

Common questions

Do invited viewers cost anything?

No. Viewers are unlimited on every plan. Only owners, admins and editors count toward your plan's editor limit.

The invitation expired. What now?

Invitation links expire. On the People page, open the ⋯ menu next to the invited address and choose Resend invite to send a fresh link.

Can editors invite people?

No. Inviting and managing people is for owners and admins. Editors can assign SOPs to people who are already members.
