The accountability chart

A simple tree of seats. Each seat has a title, the person in it and what they answer for.

  2. Edit or delete a seat
  3. How it looks

The accountability chart shows who owns what. It is organized by seats (roles in the business), not by people, so a vacant seat is as visible as a filled one.

Open it from People, then the Accountability chart tab. Everyone in the workspace can see it. Editors, admins and owners can change it.

Build the chart

  1. Click Add top-level seat (or Add the first seat in an empty chart).
  2. Click the new seat to edit it:
    • Seat title, such as “Operations Lead”.
    • Who sits here: the person’s name. Leave it blank if the seat is vacant.
    • Responsibilities (one per line): what this seat answers for.
  3. Click Save.

To add a seat that reports to this one, open it and click Add seat below.

Edit or delete a seat

Click any seat to edit it. Delete removes the seat and every seat under it, after you confirm.

How it looks

Seats appear as a tree, with each seat’s title, the person in it (or Vacant) and its responsibilities listed underneath.

For example, Brightside Plumbing (example) has a top seat “Owner” with responsibilities “Final say on pricing” and “Hiring”, and two seats below it, “Office Manager” and “Lead Technician”.

Note: “Who sits here” is a name you type, not a link to a member account, so you can include people who are not in SOPCompass.
