Print, save as PDF and export to Word
Clean printable and Word copies of an SOP, without the app's buttons, comments or progress.
Everyone who can open an SOP can print it, save it as a PDF or download it as Word. The copy holds the procedure only: never comments, reading progress or quiz answers.
Print or save as PDF
- Open the SOP.
- Click More, then Print or save as PDF.
- Your browser’s print dialog opens once the screenshots have loaded.
- To print, pick a printer. For a PDF, choose Save as PDF (or Microsoft Print to PDF on Windows) as the destination.
On a share link page, click Print at the top.
Download as Word
- Open the SOP.
- Click More, then Download as Word.
- SOPCompass prepares the file and downloads a .docx.
The Word file can be edited like any document. Highlight boxes are drawn onto the screenshots, since Word has no overlays. If a screenshot cannot be loaded, it becomes a placeholder line and the rest of the file still downloads.
What the copy includes
- The workspace name and “Standard operating procedure”.
- The SOP title.
- Last updated date, Owner (if set) and contents (how many sections and steps).
- Each card as a section, with its introduction and numbered steps, screenshots and highlight boxes.
- A link back to the SOP in SOPCompass.
Videos are replaced with a note to watch them in SOPCompass. Changes you were in the middle of making are saved before the copy is made.
Keep printed copies current
A printed copy does not update. Print the Last updated date and set a review date on the SOP, so people know when to check for a newer version. For something that always stays current, use a share link or its QR code instead.
Common questions
What happens to videos in a printed or Word copy?
A video cannot go on paper, so it is replaced with a note to watch it in SOPCompass.
Can people with a share link export to Word?
No. The share page offers Print (and so Save as PDF). Word export is for people signed in to the app.
Can I export my whole workspace?
Export works one SOP at a time.
