A quiz is a short check at the end of an SOP. Readers see their score, and only see the right answers once they pass.

Add a quiz

Editors, admins and owners can add a quiz to SOPs in their own workspace.

  1. Open the SOP.
  2. Click More, then Add a quiz.
  3. Set the Pass mark (80% to start).
  4. Click + Add a question, then:
    • Choose Multiple choice or True or false.
    • Type the question.
    • Fill in the answers (multiple choice starts with three; + Add an answer goes up to six) and mark the correct one.
    • Optionally add an explanation, shown after they pass.
    • Optionally link it to the step it tests, or leave it on Tests: whole SOP.
  5. Reorder questions with the up and down arrows, or remove them.
  6. Click Save quiz.

A quiz holds up to 20 questions. Readers see it at the end of the SOP.

Draft questions with AI

Click Generate with AI and it drafts a few questions from the SOP. Each one is marked AI draft and waits for you to Keep or Discard it. Save quiz stays off until every draft is decided, so nothing the AI wrote reaches a reader without a person approving it.

When the SOP changes

If the SOP is edited after the quiz was saved, the quiz editor says “This SOP changed since the quiz was saved. Check the questions still match it.” A question whose step was deleted is marked Step deleted.

Taking a quiz

Anyone who can read the SOP can take its quiz, viewers included.

  • At the end of the last card, click Take the quiz. It also appears in the celebration after marking every step done, and from Take quiz on an assignment.
  • Answer every question and click Submit answers.
  • Passed: every answer is shown, with explanations. A pass completes the person’s open assignment for this SOP.
  • Not quite: you see your score, the pass mark and the steps the quiz covers, with links back to them. Click Try again to retake.

Attempts are limited to 5 per person per quiz per hour.

Require a pass on an assignment

When you assign an SOP that has a quiz, Require a passing quiz score is ticked. The assignment then only completes after a passing attempt made after it was assigned. See Assignments and due dates.

See results

Click More, then Quiz results. Editors see each person in the workspace who has taken it, with their best score, number of attempts and last try, and how many have passed.

For a shared-in SOP, results belong to the workspace where people took the quiz.

Edit or delete a quiz

Click More, then Edit quiz. Saving replaces the whole question set at once, so a failed save leaves the old quiz intact. Delete quiz removes it and everyone’s results; assignments that required it can then be completed without it.

Common questions

Can I build a course out of several quizzes?

No. SOPCompass has one quiz per SOP, not courses. To onboard someone, assign several SOPs with staggered due dates and require the quiz on the ones that matter most.

Can people see the right answers?

Only after they pass. A failed attempt shows the score and the steps the quiz covers, not which questions were wrong, so the answers cannot be worked out by elimination.

Which plans include quizzes?

Every plan.
