Embedding SOPs in other sites
An embed shows one SOP in an iframe on another site. It uses a share link, so revoking the link takes the embed down too.
An embed puts a read-only copy of one SOP inside another page, such as your intranet, a help desk article, a Confluence page or a Notion doc. It always shows the current version.
Get the embed code
- Open the SOP and click Share.
- Create a share link, or use an existing one. See Share links and QR codes.
- On that link, click:
- Copy embed code for a website, help desk or Confluence page. You get an
<iframe>snippet that resizes itself to fit the SOP. - Copy embed link for Notion and other tools that embed from a link. Paste it into an embed block.

Add it to your page
- HTML page or site builder: paste the embed code where you want the SOP to appear, as HTML.
- Notion: paste the embed link into an embed block.
- Other tools: use their embed or iframe option with the embed link or code.
The embed code includes a small script that grows the frame to fit the SOP. If a tool strips scripts, the frame keeps a fixed height and scrolls inside.
What the embed shows
- Your workspace’s name, the SOP title, its cards, steps, screenshots, highlight boxes and videos.
- An Open in SOPCompass link that opens the full share page in a new tab.
It does not show the owner’s email, checklist ticking or the text size control. Links inside the SOP open in a new tab.
Turning an embed off
Revoke the share link, or let it expire. Every embed that uses it then shows “This SOP isn’t available.” To put it back, create a new link and replace the embed code.
Important: Anyone who can see the page you embed on can read the SOP. Only embed SOPs you are happy to share with that audience.
Common questions
Does the embed update when I edit the SOP?
Yes. The embed shows the live SOP every time it loads.
Can I embed an SOP without making it public?
No. An embed uses a share link, so anyone who can see the page it is on, or who has the link, can read that one SOP.
Does an embed count as an open?
Yes. Each time the embed loads, it counts as an open of its share link.
